How Public/State-Run Schools Attack Your Child’s Faith

online classical education for high schoolers

One of the great myths of public school instruction is that it’s non-religious and therefore neutral and harmless. Christian parents habitually reject solid Biblical alternatives in favor of the allegedly “free” public school system. It’s so-so easy to fall into the mindset that the public school is a handy, free day-care alternative for the two-income family, with no negative consequences. Christian parents seem oblivious to the fact that all education is based on some fundamental belief system, which makes neutrality impossible.

In spite of its specious and hypocritical claims, government education is anything but neutral. Government education always has an axe to grind. It will promote state aims, state goals, and state agendas, whether those things line up with Biblical and parental goals, or not.

According to the American Principles Project, here’s how it works in the Common Core curriculum now being force fed to the government schools in all but a handful of states: “They de-emphasize the study of classic literature in favor of reading so-called ‘informational texts,’ such as government documents, court opinions, and technical manuals. Over half the reading materials in grades 6-12 are to consist of informational texts rather than classical literature. Historical texts like the Gettysburg Address are to be presented to students without context or explanation. Because God is outlawed from the state curriculum, it means that every course, every lesson, indeed the entire institution is laced with humanist presuppositions and propaganda.”

Chief among these is the illusion of neutrality and the false claim that education is comprised of the presentation of neutral facts with no reference to the Creator of those facts. This is a blasphemous assertion that God is irrelevant to ‘real-life,’ which is implied in the claim of allegedly neutral education.

Actually, it’s not an assertion – more powerful is the legal requirement of absolute silence when it comes to God in the classroom. Out of sight, out of mind – kind of like the school’s night janitor. Every perverse philosophy is tolerated, except the absolute truth of the Christian religion. The implicit message being conveyed to our children without any explicit statement is that ‘truth is relative. Fortunately, there are online alternatives that are tailor-made for the cash-strapped and time-strapped Christian family.
